A faux-mezzotint (in that I cheated and aquatinted the plate instead of rocking it, because that takes way too long).
It's for a print portfolio called "Telling Stories" which is, coincidentally, having it's opening tonight. To all those in the DC area! Probably you'll read this too late for the opening itself (sorry :\) but if you have any interest in going to the show, which shoudl be up for a few weeks yet, and seeing this and all the other awesome works there (and possibly buying some...) here's the info!!
Feb 6th, 8 PM, Washington DC, Kathleen Ewing Gallery in Dupont Circle.
Eimhin (a.k.a, my fiance and all that) is in it too. His work is splendiforous, and he has recently had a daily deviation. Even more coolness
The print is 5" x 12", on 11" x 15" paper. Why? because that felt like the right shape for the print.
Beautiful piece! Um... advanced critique... perhaps more contrast, but i'm WELL aware how hard it is to control that sorta thing during the printing process... and composition wise, the fish nearer the bottom could be slightly bigger / nearer and moved to the right slightly... i'm just being finicky really though... it's a wonderful and mysterious image!
