Description
The last piece in "A book of weekday dreams"
A catoblepas, for the uninitiated, is a critter (often described as having the appearance of a bull or camel). It's long neck and heavy head make it almost impossible for it to lift its eye (indeed, it's name is Greek and means "looking down", or something along those lines). Which is all rather lucky, considering the fact that by most accounts its gaze is instant death.
This was the first series in which I really utilized alchemical symbolism, as well as surrealist.

Very cool. Isn't this related to the basilisk and cockatrice origins? This is the most interesting, as I like the inability to raise the head for the lethal comprehension, etc.
