Komodo Gryphon by teriathanin Komodo Gryphon by teriathanin
Was playing around with my new bottle of Dr. Ph Martin's Bombay brown ink, and I like the result so I painted it.

I'm really pining for autumn, lately...

Thank you! :) It's very inspired by Ivan Bilibin and his contemporaries. Trying to do more like it.

Ah, do not hasten autumn over yet! Unlike you, we have not had a long and hot summer in the UK. It's been... variable. And certainly much wetter than we'd have liked.

Aw, I guess that's the sort of summer I wish for. X) Though I guess I can see why you might want it alleviated with some sunny warmth!
The Washington DC area used to be a swamp, so it's predictably hot and humid here in the summer, though with long droughts. It'll feel like you're walking into a sauna when you leave the house, but it won't actually rain for you. :| Well, until the hurricane this past weekend that knocked out our power for three days. We probably made up for the drought in one night... *shakes fist at hurricane's back*
Maybe I can hope for an early fall here and a long and lingering second summer for the UK? :D

Heh, well, in truth, I'm not one for blazing hot summers either, but as you say, some sunny alleviation alternating with the rain and cloud would be most welcome! I sympathise with your saunas and droughts though.

That would be an ideal wish, yes. ^_^

I was thinking about old woodcuts of red riding hood and her wolf when I doodled him. :)

It's been such a long hot summer here, it's hard not to wish for bonfires, rain, and cold nights! X)

I hadn't heard of Quinton Hoover before*! His work's incredible! Thankee for the flattering comparison, and well as the artist recommendation! :D

*(well, I own some of his Magic cards apparently, but I was oblivious)

Perhaps because it's a bit evocative of art nouveau and early woodcuts, which illustrated so many beautiful fairy tale books and fantasies back in the day? :)
I feel the same way, so I'm just trying to guess. Love that sort of thing.
